Mental Health Social Workers in Private Practice (MHSWiPP) National Forum steering group together with the national office of AASW are organising the following business oriented workshops for social workers in the private sector over the coming year.
The business of social workers in private practice:
The program is yet to be finalised but is looking to be a very interesting mix of innovative practice models across a range of sectors as well as a great mix of creative marketing and finance workshops. The program will be available in June as expressions of interest to present are not closed until the end of May. Spread over two days these workshops will be designed to be relevant to social workers across all sectors i.e. mental health, aged care, disability, domestic violence, child protection as well as other consultancy fields. The aim is to present business and networking opportunities as well as provide relevant business related information to social workers in the private sector. This will include two half day NDIS specific workshops about opportunities for self-employed social workers under this scheme and specific information on how to become a provider.
We want to also offer presentations from those currently in the field showcasing a range of social work practice and innovation in the private sector. To enable us to do this we need support of social workers interested in presenting what you do and what you have learnt. Expressions of interest are now open for those people who are interested in presenting.
Working with the NDIS:
This workshop will provide information on the opportunities for social workers who want to work under with the NDIS as well as guide you on what you need to do to become a provider.
