Exploring Fatherhood Diversity: The Effects of Father Involvement

May 10 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

| $290

The changing role of fathers in families has generated considerable scholarly interest in how fathers interact with and influence their children in diverse family contexts. A cultural shift has occurred in the image of fatherhood — from disengaged breadwinner and unemotional disciplinarian, to the ‘new father’ who is expressive, nurturing, and intimately involved in his children’s daily lives.

This interactive workshop will explore how fatherhood is the primary shaper of both their and their children’s development. Tools to engage with fathers, and techniques to encourage children’s socio-emotional and cognitive development, plus strategies to promote and increase father involvement will be presented. Participants will see how they can work in a strength based way with fathers, leading to significant developmental change for men.

Recognise how to work with fathers to increase their engagement in their children’s lives
