The Influence of Fathers on Children’s Mental Health

May 11, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

| $290

Much time and attention has been placed on understanding mothers’ influence on their children’s mental health. Over the last few decades, with significant shifts in family structure and parenting roles, psychologists have explored the influence that fathers have on the mental health of their children. We now know that there is a link between father attachment and involvement, and children’s mental health outcomes, particularly in relation to behavior problems.

This workshop will look at father attachment and its involvement with improved key early childhood outcomes. It will provide strategies for professionals working with families to encourage positive father engagement to reduce the frequency of behavioural and psychological problems in children.
